It’s been a while since I’ve posted, basically because there wasn’t much to say but so much to do.
Over the past few months I have been kept busy with a few projects. Producing and Recording Myles Gaffney’s latest recordings and preparing my self for a few solo concerts in Germany.
After months of work, ” Don’t Underestimate Me”, Myles’ 2nd body of work with me as producer is finished. It was again a great experience for me and one that has helped me hone even further, my organising / arranging / engineering and most importantly time management skills. The launch for this Album is only a few weeks away and I’m really looking forward to watching Myles, once again taking his wares to market.
As mentioned I’ve also been getting myself prepared ( in every way ) for a short solo trip to Germany. Let me say now that although I was on stage alone, this was far from a one man production.
The reason preparation was so important to me is because of how different this experience is from the kind of work I do on a weekly basis. I love what I do here and I’m so lucky to be able to make a wage from a job that I love. I’ve always said I’m an Entertainer first and songwriter second. Knowing it’s my job to help people enjoy themselves socially is both demanding and very fulfilling. Im always a bag of nerves before a show but at this stage, I wouldn’t have it any other way .
The difference for me in Germany is that people come especially to hear me play. They also come to hear songs I’ve written myself. Now, that’s nerve wrecking! It’s such an amazing feeling to have a room full of people sing your own songs with you. The ultimate Natural High. Preparation on all levels, musical and emotional is crucial for me for these kind of concerts. It’s amazing how debilitating nerves can be if they go out of control. However, I’m so lucky to have such an amazing team of people around me while working in Germany. I won’t mention everyone’s name here but most are in the photo below.
The people in this photo, all and in no small way, made it possible for me to perform to the best of my ability each night. From pre tour promotion, sound and light management, daily personal support and complete professionalism to simple words of encouragement and occasional constructive criticism, I can honestly say, each and every one of them were amazing.
Of course being on the road knowing I had support from my Wife, family, friends and colleagues here at home was really important also but on the ground in Germany I couldn’t have done it without these people’s support.
As I look towards 2017 I think all my focus now must go to sustaining my career here at home while building on what’s been started in the wonderful city of Köln.
I can’t thank these amazing people enough and the wonderful listening audiences each night. You’ve all given me faith and encouragement in my ability as a songwriter and I thank you so so much for that . Can’t wait to work with and play for you all again.
